The Role

We're looking for an analytical and solutions-focused Asset Performance Engineer to join our team on a permanent full-time basis.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in improving the performance, reliability and long-term sustainability of TasWater's water and wastewater infrastructure. You'll use asset performance analysis, reliability engineering and risk-based decision making to help optimise investment, maintenance and renewal strategies across our asset portfolio.

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll help balance customer service outcomes, asset lifecycle costs and operational risk, ensuring our infrastructure continues to deliver for Tasmanians now and into the future.

In this role, you will:

  • Monitor, analyse and improve the performance and reliability of water and wastewater assets.
  • Undertake asset condition assessments, failure investigations and root cause analysis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain asset lifecycle strategies and plans.
  • Contribute to 5-year capital investment and maintenance planning.
  • Support risk-based decision making through asset criticality and risk assessments.
  • Identify and implement initiatives that improve asset performance, reliability and resilience.
  • Collaborate with operational, engineering and project delivery teams to develop practical and sustainable solutions.
  • Support the ongoing development of asset management frameworks, standards and practices.

What we're looking for

We're seeking an engineer who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges and using data-driven insights to influence better asset outcomes.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience monitoring, analysing and improving infrastructure asset performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience undertaking failure investigations and root cause analysis.
  • The ability to interpret asset data and translate insights into practical maintenance, renewal or investment strategies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across technical and operational teams.
  • A current Class C Driver's Licence.

Highly regarded

  • Experience in contemporary asset management, particularly balancing performance, cost and risk.
  • Knowledge of water and sewerage infrastructure or similar utility environments.
  • Experience with asset management frameworks and systems such as ISO 55000.

The Details

This role can be based either in Hobart, Devonport, or Launceston and attracts a salary range of $106,708.64 - $112,636.89 per annum ( inclusive of superannuation), negotiable based on experience.
