Great products don’t begin with solutions. They begin with understanding.
At Civiq, we believe successful products are built through customer understanding, commercial thinking and disciplined decision-making.
We’re a specialist Australian manufacturer of premium drinking water refill stations used in schools, workplaces, councils, sporting facilities and public spaces across Australia. As we continue investing in our product portfolio, we’re looking for a commercially minded Product Manager, with experience developing physical products, to help identify new opportunities, solve genuine customer problems and deliver products that create lasting value.
As part of this investment, you’ll work alongside an internationally recognised Product Management consultant, who is helping build Civiq’s Product Management capability. It’s a unique opportunity to learn from an experienced practitioner while contributing to the development of a best-practice Product Management function.
Working closely with Business Development, Engineering, Design and Manufacturing, you’ll challenge assumptions, make evidence-based recommendations and help shape products that solve genuine customer problems.
If you’re naturally curious, enjoy asking “why”, and want to develop products backed by evidence that deliver meaningful commercial outcomes, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As Product Manager, you’ll play a central role in shaping Civiq’s product portfolio and helping translate customer needs into commercially successful products. You’ll combine strategic thinking, commercial analysis and sound judgement to identify opportunities, evaluate ideas and support confident product decisions.
You’ll engage with customers and stakeholders to understand problems worth solving, research local and international markets, analyse competitors and assess product opportunities. Using these insights, you’ll help define product direction and provide the evidence needed to support investment and development decisions.
You’ll be accountable for maintaining momentum across product initiatives, navigating ambiguity, making informed decisions within your authority and ensuring work remains aligned with agreed objectives and business priorities.
As you develop in the role, you’ll also help strengthen Civiq’s Product Management capability by contributing to the frameworks, disciplines and processes that support consistent, evidence-based product decisions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead customer, stakeholder and market research to identify opportunities, validate assumptions and define product requirements.
- Develop compelling product briefs and business cases that clearly define the customer problem, commercial rationale, project scope and measures of success.
- Manage and continuously improve Civiq’s product portfolio and roadmap by evaluating opportunities, supporting lifecycle decisions and ensuring initiatives align with customer needs, evidence and strategic priorities.
- Monitor product portfolio performance and make recommendations on product enhancements, rationalisation, retirement and future investment.
- Lead product initiatives from concept through to launch, proactively resolving issues and maintaining progress throughout the development process.
- Collaborate across the business and with external partners to deliver successful product outcomes.
- Coordinate product launch readiness by ensuring product specifications, technical documentation, certifications and supporting materials are complete and ready for market release.
- Maintain the Product Matrix and ensure product documentation, specifications, classifications and knowledge resources remain accurate throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.
Support engagement with international suppliers and manufacturing partners where required.
About You
You’re naturally curious and enjoy solving meaningful problems. You ask thoughtful questions, challenge assumptions and take the time to understand a problem before recommending a solution.
You enjoy turning insight into action. Comfortable working with ambiguity, you apply sound judgement, think critically and make evidence-based recommendations that help move product initiatives forward.
You’re accountable, proactive and motivated by making a genuine impact. You take ownership, follow through on commitments and are excited by the opportunity to continue developing as a Product Manager while helping shape products that create lasting value for customers and the business.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone with strong Product Management foundations and the ambition to continue developing their capability.
Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Around five years’ experience in Product Management or a similar product-focused role involving physical products within manufacturing, appliances, industrial products or a related industry.
- Tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience conducting customer, market and competitor research, and translating insights into high-quality product briefs and business cases.
- Strong commercial acumen, including the ability to evaluate market opportunities, pricing, return on investment and the commercial drivers behind successful product decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear, well-structured recommendations to a range of audiences.
- Highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Experience working with international suppliers, OEM/ODM manufacturers or technical products will be highly regarded.
- Experience working across Asian supply chains and/or additional language skills, particularly Mandarin or Korean, will be viewed favourably but are not essential.
