St John of God Bunbury Hospital is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to provide leadership and supervision within our kitchen team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food products and exceptional service to patients, visitors, and other customers. This hands-on role is responsible for overseeing daily food service operations, maintaining food safety and quality standards, supporting and mentoring team members, and contributing to a positive patient experience. Working closely with the broader hospitality and clinical teams, the successful candidate will help ensure efficient, customer-focused service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

We have multiple opportunities being offered on a Permanent Part-Time basis, working 72 hours per fortnight.

The Position

  • Supports the Executive Chef in developing a culture of service excellence, sustainable patient satisfaction and sustainable employee engagement.
  • Ensures caregivers complete assigned tasks in a timely manner and to quality and safety standards.
  • Completes performance development reviews of caregivers under supervision.
  • In liaison with the Hotel Services Administrative Officer (Rostering) manages caregiver rosters and annual leave calendars ensuring maintenance of effective service levels.
  • Supports the Executive Chef with effective recruitment, induction and ongoing training, including the preparation of training material and its delivery to Food Service Attendants.
  • Manages performance issues, escalates to Executive Chef, Hotel Services Manager and Workforce Lead as required.
  • Supports the Executive Chef and the Hotel Services Manager leading the catering team through change management as the kitchen and service models progress.
  • Interprets patient meal tray cards for meal service for patients and ensures appropriate meals for patients who have allergy and therapeutic diet meal choices and participates in the preparation, plating and delivery of meals and snacks as required.
  • Ensures that all relevant food safety, compliance documentation codes of practice and legislative requirements are consistently met and maintained correctly.

You will have previous experience supervising in a catering environment with the ability to assist in training programs and be able to plan staff rosters and leave. You will have the ability to prioritise tasks, make decisions and guide the team and have a commitment to ongoing education and professional development

To succeed you will have well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills, a sound knowledge of hygiene regulations and an awareness of correct manual handling procedures.

  • Salary: $71,369 to $72,635 (pro rata for part time), plus 12% superannuation
