About the Company
Join a globally recognised Australian manufacturer backed by one of the world's leading industrial technology groups. Based in Western Sydney, the business designs and manufactures precision engineered mechanical components and assemblies supplied across Australia and international markets.
The site combines advanced CNC machining, fabrication, welding and mechanical assembly, manufacturing both high-volume automated and complex engineered products. Significant investment in automation, modern equipment and operational excellence has created an environment where experienced manufacturing leaders can genuinely influence the direction of the business.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this is an opportunity to join the senior leadership team and take ownership of a high-performing manufacturing operation where your decisions make a real impact.
The Opportunity
You'll lead a Production Engineer, Production Planner, Machine Shop Team Leader and Mechanical Assembly Team Leader, providing leadership across an experienced workforce of approximately 20 people including CNC setters, machinists, welders and assemblers.
This is far more than a traditional Production Manager role. You'll be responsible for manufacturing performance, planning, continuous improvement, automation, production engineering and commercial outcomes while helping shape the future direction of the operation.

- Optimise production planning, scheduling and manufacturing workflow to maximise capacity and improve customer delivery performance.
- Champion Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement by reducing setup times, improving OEE, minimising rework and delivering measurable productivity and cost savings.
- Evaluate make-versus-buy opportunities, lead insourcing initiatives and identify automation projects that improve manufacturing capability and profitability.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Finance to improve manufacturability, inventory performance and operational outcomes.
- Build upon an already highly engaged culture by developing leaders, empowering teams and encouraging practical problem solving across the operation.
What You'll Bring
You'll be an experienced manufacturing leader who combines strong technical capability with commercial thinking and genuine people leadership.
Ideally you'll bring:
- Mechanical Engineering degree or Mechanical Trade qualification.
- Leadership experience within mechanical component manufacturing, precision machining or engineered product manufacturing involving CNC machining, fabrication and mechanical assembly.
- Understanding of CNC machining, tooling and machine setting. Mastercam exposure will be highly regarded.
- Experience leading production planning, scheduling and manufacturing operations within a complex production environment.
- Proven success improving productivity, reducing manufacturing costs and leading Lean or Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing production costs, labour utilisation, operational budgets and manufacturing performance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the credibility to lead experienced CNC, engineering and production teams.
- A collaborative, hands-on leadership style focused on empowering people, solving problems and driving practical outcomes.
Experience within flow control, industrial equipment, automotive, mining, defence, aerospace or other precision engineered manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
Why Join?
- Report directly to the Managing Director as part of the senior leadership team.
- Competitive salary package including annual performance bonus of up to 10%.
- Lead a modern manufacturing facility equipped with advanced CNC machinery.
- Drive major automation, insourcing and continuous improvement projects that will shape the future of the operation.
