About This Program

Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary, and easy to access, with no referral required. Importantly, these new services will be delivered on the basis of ‘how can we help? and a ‘no wrong door’ approach, focused on giving choice and control over how the consumer wants to receive support.

This new service will make it easier for the consumer to access the support they need, closer to home and family, carers, and support networks.

Most importantly, Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are safe spaces for everyone.

About The Opportunity

The Mental Health and Wellbeing Local Service in St Kilda is a community-led, integrated service delivered in partnership by Wellways and The Alfred Care Group, Bayside Health. Operating Monday to Friday, the service supports people aged 26 years and over experiencing mental health challenges, including co-occurring alcohol and other drug concerns. As part of Victoria's mental health reform, the Port Phillip Spoke delivers accessible, person-centred care through a multidisciplinary team providing clinical treatment, wellbeing supports, peer support, care coordination, outreach and telehealth.

The role will initially be based in Frankston while a permanent site for the Port Phillip service is confirmed. Once established, the role will transition to the new service location.

The Wellbeing Navigator Peer is a key member of this multidisciplinary team, using lived experience and the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Framework to walk alongside participants on their recovery journey. The role focuses on building authentic relationships, providing peer support, helping people navigate services, promoting self-determination, and ensuring participant choice and voice remain at the centre of care. This is an opportunity to contribute to a service where lived experience actively shapes the way support is delivered.
