Shape the Future of Culture and Assurance at Bendigo Bank

At Bendigo Bank, we're on a mission to become Australia's most innovative bank. Our Group Internal Audit (GIA) function is at the heart of this transformation. We've reset our strategy to build a world-class, data-driven audit function that not only provides assurance but also delivers strategic insights to help the Board anticipate risk and strengthen decision-making.

We are not just auditors; we are trusted advisors and agents of change. Our new 3-year roadmap will see us move from periodic audits to continuous, AI-enabled, and predictive assurance. We are building an enterprise assurance intelligence capability, and we're looking for a leader to pioneer our approach to culture and conduct assurance.

Our Values:

  • Make a difference
  • Be better together
  • Own it
  • Find the right way

These values are the bedrock of our work and guide how we achieve our goals.

About the Role

This isn't your typical audit role. As the Senior Manager, Culture, you will be the architect of our culture assurance practice. You will have the unique opportunity to design and build our GIA Culture Review Framework and Methodology from the ground up.

Reporting to the General Manager of Group Internal Audit, you will lead complex, independent reviews into culture, conduct, and behaviour across the entire bank. Your work will provide critical assurance to our Board Audit Committee and executive leadership, ensuring we uphold our values and meet heightened regulatory expectations in an increasingly complex environment.

Your Impact

This is a pivotal role that directly supports our new GIA strategy. You will:

  • Build Strong Foundations: Establish and embed a robust methodology for assessing risk culture, leadership behaviours, psychological safety, and accountability.
  • Drive Data-Driven Assurance: Innovate our practices by integrating advanced culture analytics and insightful reporting, moving us toward a more predictive and real-time assurance model.
  • Become a Trusted Advisor: Act as the bank's subject matter expert on culture and conduct assurance, building trusted relationships with executive leaders, regulators, and the Board.
  • Create a Future-Ready Team: Lead, coach, and develop capability within GIA, fostering a high-performance culture grounded in intellectual rigour and continuous improvement. You will be instrumental in helping us become a strategic asset to the bank.

About You

You are a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the human side of risk. You are passionate about organisational psychology and behavioural science and have a proven track record of applying this expertise in a complex financial services environment.

  • Essential Experience: You have significant experience in Internal Audit, Risk, or Assurance, with a focus on organisational culture, conduct risk, and behavioural science.
  • Leadership: You are an influential leader, capable of leading complex reviews, driving transformational change, and engaging with stakeholders at the highest level.
  • Methodology: You have experience developing and implementing culture review frameworks and methodologies.
  • Qualifications: You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Human Resources, Business, or a related discipline. An Organisational Psychology or Behavioural Science qualification is highly desirable.
