Curtin University is seeking an accomplished and collaborative academic leader to join the Faculty of Humanities as Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor (DPVC).

This is a unique opportunity to partner closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor in leading one of Curtin's major faculties and helping to shape its strategic direction, academic excellence and organisational performance. The Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor acts with delegated authority from the Pro Vice-Chancellor and plays a pivotal role in translating strategy into action while fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Humanities, the Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor provides leadership across the Faculty's teaching, research, people and operational priorities.

Working closely with Heads of School and Faculty leaders, the role helps develop and implement strategic and operational plans, strengthen academic performance, and ensure effective academic management and quality assurance across the Faculty. The Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor also plays an important role in representing the Faculty across the University and externally with industry, government, professional bodies and community stakeholders.

  • Lead initiatives that enhance academic quality, research performance and educational innovation.
  • Support and mentor Heads of School and academic leaders across the Faculty.

  • Strengthen relationships with industry, government, professional bodies and community partners.
  • Contribute to University-wide leadership and decision-making through committee and governance roles.

You are a respected academic leader with the strategic capability, personal credibility and collaborative style required to thrive in a complex and dynamic university environment.

You bring a strong understanding of contemporary higher education and a demonstrated ability to lead people, strategy and change while fostering excellence and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • A record of academic excellence demonstrated through significant contributions to teaching, research and/or professional practice.
  • Deep knowledge of the Australian higher education sector.
  • Exceptional leadership experience with the ability to guide, develop and motivate staff within complex organisations.
  • Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organisational change and driving strategic improvement initiatives.
  • Strong capability in policy development, quality assurance, benchmarking and continuous improvement.
  • The ability to influence across diverse stakeholder groups and build productive partnerships both internally and externally.
