WHS Systems Lead

Perth Airport

It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!

Perth Airport is Australia’s Western Hub connecting the people, businesses and communities of Western Australia with the rest of Australia and the world. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year, Perth Airport plays a significant role in providing economic, social and cultural benefits to West Australians

We are delivering a $5 billion infrastructure program to transform the airport, including new and expanded terminals, a parallel runway, multi-storey car parks and our first on site hotel. This investment will deliver a single, integrated airport precinct and a world class passenger experience.

Beyond aviation, the Perth Airport estate spans more than 2,100 hectares and supports a $1.5 billion portfolio of industrial and commercial assets, with significant opportunities for future development.

About The Role

As the WHS Systems Lead, you will play a pivotal technical role in leading the development, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of Perth Airport’s HSEH Integrated Management System.

Working across WHS, Environment and Heritage, this role will help ensure our systems, documentation, tools and reporting are practical, compliant, reliable and aligned to the needs of a complex airport operating environment. You will work closely with business units, HSEH Business Partners, contractors and end users to embed fit-for-purpose processes that support compliance, improve usability and enable informed decision-making.

You will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:

  • Lead the design, implementation and continual improvement of the HSEH Integrated Management System, ensuring WHS, Environment and Heritage requirements are embedded in a practical and consistent way.
  • Ensure the IMS is aligned and integrated with the Quality Management System and Airport Operations Safety Management System, supporting a coordinated approach to governance, assurance and operational risk management.
  • Manage HSEH documentation, registers, workflows and controlled document processes to ensure information is current, accessible, appropriately approved and compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the administration and ongoing improvement of HSEH platforms such as SAI360 and SharePoint, with a focus on reliability, usability, user access, data integrity and reporting capability.
  • Partner with business units, HSEH Business Partners, contractors and end users to understand operational needs and embed fit-for-purpose IMS tools, processes, training materials and documentation.
  • Use system insights, audits and reporting to monitor HSEH performance, identify trends, surface emerging risks and support mitigation and continuous improvement activities.
  • Provide practical system guidance, user support and communications to help build understanding, consistency and engagement with HSEH requirements across the organisation.

About You

You will bring strong technical capability in integrated management systems, document control and HSEH compliance, along with the confidence to work across a complex, highly regulated operating environment. You will be someone who can balance technical detail with practical application, translating requirements into clear tools, processes and guidance that support the business. A collaborative and influential communication style will be important, as you will work with a broad range of stakeholders to support compliance, continuous improvement and a positive safety culture.

To Be Success In This Role, You Will Have

  • A relevant HSEH-related qualification and 5+ years’ experience in relevant roles, ideally within a complex operational, infrastructure, aviation or similarly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, implementing and improving Integrated Management Systems aligned to ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
  • Broad knowledge of risk assessment, audit processes, assurance activities and continuous improvement practices, with the ability to apply these in a practical business context.
  • Strong document control and technical writing skills, including experience managing controlled documents across their full lifecycle, from development and approval through to review, version control and publication.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical or compliance requirements into clear, user-friendly guidance for a range of audiences.
  • Sound understanding of WHS legislation, including harmonised WHS laws, with working knowledge of environmental and heritage compliance obligations.
  • A collaborative and influential working style, with the confidence to engage stakeholders, guide decision-making and support the adoption of consistent HSEH practices.
  • Experience with SharePoint and SAI360, or equivalent HSEH systems, will be highly regarded, particularly where you have supported system administration, reporting or user adoption.
  • Formal training and assessment qualifications are desirable, particularly where they support the development and delivery of system or process training.
