Townsville Grammar School is one of the original Grammar Schools of Queensland. The Year 7-12 campus is located on the original site at North Ward. The School also operates two Junior School campuses, both offering Pre-Prep to Year 6, at Annandale and North Shore.
Townsville Grammar School is a co-educational, non-denominational School with a current enrolment of approximately 1400 students, including 120 boarders (7-12), of whom approximately 25 are international students.
As one of the eight original Grammar Schools in Queensland, Townsville Grammar School was established in 1888 and has offered boarding since this time. The School has a long-standing reputation as the leading academic school in Northern Queensland, also offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for Years 11 and 12.
We are seeking a friendly, organised and student-focused
Library Aide to join our school community. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the School Library, helping create an engaging and welcoming environment for students and staff. The successful applicant will also provide general teacher aide support on occasion, as required.
Based at our Annandale Junior Campus, this is a part-time, term-time position. The current hours of work are 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Thursday. The position is expected to commence on Monday, 3 August 2026.
About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Library and Information Services, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our School Library by:
- Assisting students and staff to access, borrow and return library resources.
- Providing high-quality customer service and library support.
- Processing, cataloguing and preparing new resources for circulation.
- Maintaining the library collection to ensure resources are accessible and well-presented.
- Operating the Library Management System and maintaining accurate records.
- Supporting Book Club administration and resource ordering processes.
- Creating and maintaining engaging library displays and promotions.
- Performing general administrative and clerical duties within the Library.
- Supervising library users and maintaining a welcoming learning environment.
As a member of our broader support team, you will also provide teacher aide assistance as required, including:
- Supporting teachers with classroom preparation and learning activities.
- Assisting students individually or in small groups under teacher direction.
- Helping prepare and organise teaching resources and equipment.
- Supervising students during school activities, excursions and playground duties.
- Providing general administrative support to teaching staff.
This role would suit an adaptable and enthusiastic individual who enjoys working with young people and contributing to a positive learning environment across both the Library and the wider School community.
About You
You will bring:
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience in library administration, resource management or a similar support role.
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn library management systems.
- The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- Experience working in a school or educational setting (desirable).
- Relevant qualifications in Education Support, Library Services or a related field (desirable).
- Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Current Working with Children Blue Card (mandatory prior to commencement)
