The opportunity
The Coordinator Rates plays a critical leadership role within the Finance team, overseeing the collection of council rates and charges - representing over 80% of Council’s income. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this permanent full-time position is based at the Hobsons Bay Civic Centre and is key to ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and excellent service delivery to the community.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end management of rates and revenue collection
- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements
- Oversee billing, debt recovery, and financial reporting processes
- Drive continuous improvement in systems and customer service delivery
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to the rates team
What You Need To Succeed
- Strong experience in finance, accounting or revenue management
- Proven leadership experience managing teams in a complex environment
- Sound knowledge of local government rating processes (highly regarded)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication abilities
