Gympie Regional Council is seeking a qualified and motivated
Electrician to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a broad portfolio of Council assets, including water and wastewater infrastructure, commercial buildings, and community facilities.
As part of our Infrastructure team, you will play a key role in ensuring Council's electrical assets are maintained to the highest standards, supporting the delivery of safe, reliable and efficient services to our community.
About The Role
In this hands-on position, you will undertake a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance and repair work across Council's infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include fault finding, preventative maintenance, testing, compliance activities and supporting capital works projects.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, repairs and fault finding across water, wastewater, buildings and facilities.
- Completing electrical risk assessments and ensuring all work complies with relevant legislation and Australian Standards.
- Assisting with the development and documentation of Council's electrical asset network.
- Liaising with contractors, Council staff and members of the community.
- Conducting RCD testing and Test and Tag on nominated Council assets and equipment.
- Preparing scopes of work for planned maintenance and capital projects.
- Participating in toolbox meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintaining accurate records and completing work within agreed timeframes.
- Participating in training and complying with all workplace health and safety requirements.
About You
You are a qualified electrician who enjoys a varied workload and takes pride in delivering quality outcomes. You have strong technical knowledge, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Essential Requirements
- Queensland Electrical Work Licence.
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician (or equivalent trade qualification).
- Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
- General Construction Induction (White Card).
- Low Voltage Rescue qualification.
- Strong working knowledge of AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules.
- Knowledge of relevant Electrical Safety Acts and Regulations.
- Experience in electrical maintenance and installation (local government experience is advantageous but not essential).
- Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
