Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Workshop Plant Technician to join our team. In this role, your core focus will be machine pre-delivery preparation, mechanical repairs and ongoing maintenance for high-quality machinery – including elevating work platforms, telescopic handlers, skid steers and forklifts. You will work extensively across DC electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and essential mechanical components like engines and motors.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostics & Fault Finding: Perform precise troubleshooting, servicing, and diagnostic repairs on customer and internal fleet machinery.
- Engine & System Service: Maintain and repair mechanical components across diesel, LPG, petrol engines.
- Drivetrain & Controls: Repair and service steering systems, brake systems, and manual, powershift, or hydrostatic transmissions.
- Hydraulics & Electrical: Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic valves, cylinders, electrical starting/charging systems, and machinery accessories.
- Pre-Delivery: Undertake new machine pre-delivery preparations, accessory installations and thorough quality inspections.
- Documentation: Process daily workshop service and repair documentation, ensuring any items requiring attention are reported to the supervisor.
- Parts Liaison: Collaborate directly with the spare parts team to specify and secure components required for repairs.
- Efficiency & Satisfaction: Complete all service and repair tasks within reasonable timeframes to uphold peak customer satisfaction, safety, and quality standards.
- Safety & Housekeeping: Work safely, utilize provided PPE, comply with current Occupational Safety and Health (OS&H) legislation and maintain excellent workshop housekeeping.
- Team Support: Provide cross-functional support and execute other duties as directed.

- Technical Background: Strong background in hydraulics and electrical systems for machinery like telescopic handlers, forklifts, tractors, and earthmoving equipment.
- Problem-Solving: Solid analytical skills to accurately troubleshoot and resolve complex technical faults.

- Communication: Clear, effective verbal and written communication skills.

Education, Qualifications & Licences
- Trade Qualification: Relevant Trade Qualification (Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology or equivalent).
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of post-apprenticeship experience as a qualified tradesperson.
- Licences & Tickets:
- Forklift Licence (Desirable).
- Current Driver’s Licence (An advantage).
- Current EWP High Risk Licence (An advantage).
- Telehandler Gold Card (An advantage).
