AI and Automation Principal
IAG
For over 165 years, CGU has been insuring ambition. Part of Insurance Australia Group (known as IAG), we’re a leading commercial, rural and personal lines insurer and a top-three provider of workers compensation insurance.
Help shape the future of AI and automation across one of Australia's largest insurance businesses.
As our AI and Automation Principal, you'll help Intermediated Insurance Australia (IIA) unlock the potential of AI by building capability, identifying opportunities, improving business processes and turning emerging technologies into practical outcomes for our people and customers. You'll work at the intersection of AI, automation, process excellence and transformation, helping teams reimagine the way work gets done.
This is a unique opportunity to influence how AI is adopted across the business—not by building solutions yourself, but by working alongside business leaders, transformation specialists and technical teams to identify opportunities, guide decisions and drive meaningful outcomes.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne) or Meanjin (Brisbane).
What You'll Do
- Build AI capability across IIA through education, coaching, activator networks and practical learning experiences that encourage innovation and experimentation.
- Partner with process optimisation specialists and business teams to identify friction points and uncover opportunities where AI and automation can create meaningful value.
- Help reimagine future-state processes by combining process improvement thinking with emerging AI and automation capabilities.
- Assess and shape AI and automation opportunities, translating business needs into practical recommendations and scalable solutions.
- Work across business, operations, technology and transformation teams to support the successful delivery and adoption of AI initiatives.
- Ensure AI opportunities align with governance, risk and compliance requirements while delivering measurable business outcomes.
What You'll Bring
- Experience leading or supporting AI, automation, process improvement or transformation initiatives within a complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of current AI technologies, trends and opportunities, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business value.
- Experience identifying and evaluating opportunities to improve processes through AI, automation or digital solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to influence, educate and bring people on the journey.
- Knowledge of governance, risk and compliance considerations associated with AI and automation delivery.
- A curious, innovative mindset and genuine passion for exploring how emerging technologies can improve the way organisations operate.
What We Offer
- Boosted superannuation with 13% as standard.
- 20 days annual leave + 5 days MyLeave (extra leave for what’s important to you).
- Work from home and many more flexibility options with myFlex.
- Up to 50% off personal insurance, including home and motor insurance.
- Partner discounts on private health insurance, tech & appliances, and many more.
