About The Role

As the Head of Contract Management and Procurement, you will lead and shape WAPHA's strategic procurement, sourcing and contract management function. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Commissioning, you will oversee a team of more than 20 professionals and drive best-practice procurement, supplier management and health service contract management across the organisation.

This is a key leadership role responsible for developing and implementing contemporary procurement and contract management strategies that deliver value, strengthen governance and support the delivery of commissioned health services across Western Australia. You will work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders to enhance procurement capability, manage commercial risk, foster supplier partnerships and drive continuous improvement across the commissioning lifecycle.

This role is ideal for an experienced procurement senior leader who thrives in a strategic environment, enjoys leading high-performing teams and is passionate about delivering meaningful outcomes that contribute to better health for Western Australian communities.

Employment Type: Full-time Maximum term contract for 2 years

Location: WAPHA Head Office, Level 2, 1 Hood Street, Subiaco (Hybrid role)

Salary: Band 7 ($185k - $219k Plus 12% Superannuation)

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Lead WAPHA's contract management and procurement function, providing strategic direction and oversight across procurement, sourcing and supplier management activities.
  • Drive best-practice procurement and contract management processes that deliver value for money, manage risk and support organisational objectives.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee complex procurement activities, supplier relationships and contract negotiations across a diverse portfolio of commissioned services.
  • Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to provide expert advice on procurement, commercial and contract management matters.
  • Ensure compliance with governance frameworks, policies, legislative requirements and organisational standards.
  • Champion innovation and continuous improvement in procurement, contract management and commissioning practices.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier performance and commercial risks to inform strategic decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Drive the development and implementation of procurement frameworks, policies and tools that support organisational capability and consistency.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of WAPHA's strategic priorities and improved health outcomes for Western Australian communities.

About You

Essential Experience And Education

We're looking for a strategic and commercially minded leader who brings:

  • Extensive experience leading procurement, contract management, commercial or commissioning functions in a complex environment.
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering procurement strategies that drive value, efficiency and organisational outcomes.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to build, coach and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supplier management, contract negotiations and managing commercial risk.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to work confidently across executive-level environments.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Commerce, Business, Law or a related field.

Highly Regarded

  • Professional procurement accreditation (e.g. CIPS/MCIPS or equivalent).
  • Experience within healthcare, government, community services or other highly regulated sectors.
