Project Technical Lead (Project Engineer)

We are looking for a strong individual to be the technical lead and point of contact (technical). You are responsible and accountable for planning, and overseeing the body of work that satisfies the Engineering requirements to execution, for the assigned business Project Charters and/or Project Plans.
The technical lead overseas and co-ordinates the engineering tasks and artefacts required to ensure safe, effective and fit for purpose products are delivered under their engineering project. This individual forms a primary role in co-ordinating the technical body of work to ensure the engineering business unit delivers the project in close alignment with the assigned Project Manager, and oversight of the Program Engineering Manager (and EMO). The key to the role is co-ordinating and leading the engineering scope; providing that primary and constant engineering resource capability, while working with other Project Engineers, Technical Leads, Project Leads and senior Engineering Managers to align to business needs and outcomes.
Primary Duties
- Oversee the technical scope, feasibility, design, and assembly - ensuring the project remains in scope, and quality and safety standards are met.
- Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and quality records
- Act as the prime technical conduit within the Engineering and at times other stakeholders within the rest of the business (programs, supply, security, finance).
- Develop and implement strategies that maximise project success.
- Work collaboratively within a project team, providing and maintaining relationships between engineering disciplines, and broader business units.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and delivery of multi-disciplinary projects
- Co-ordinate the engineering tasks and body of work.
- Lead projects to plan and lead project decision-making processes.
- Perform project assessment and control.
- Provide technical support to site teams
- Annunciate and assist in managing risks arising from Engineering and/or impacting Engineering.
- Manage Configuration Baselines and ensure deliver of appropriate Technical Data to customers, both internally and as required / directed externally in co-ordination with the project manager (programs).
Experience
- 5 or more years experience in a Senior Engineering position.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Product Life Cycle
- Experience of the Australian Defence technical regulation frameworks and standards
- Proven experience in the project/program execution within the ASDEFCON framework.
- A Bachelors or Post Graduate Degree within an Engineering Discipline.
