The Desktop Investigations Lead role is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the intelligence gathering capability that supports Personal Injury claims, with a strong focus on fraud risk mitigation. The role leads and coaches a team conducting investigations primarily through digital and online sources, ensuring high quality, compliant, and timely investigative outputs. It combines technical expertise—such as analysing data, reviewing reports, and maintaining robust quality and governance standards—with leadership responsibilities, including driving team performance, managing workflows, and identifying emerging fraud trends and investigative opportunities. The position also plays a key role in stakeholder engagement, functional reporting, and continuous improvement of desktop investigation processes to deliver effective outcomes for the business.

What You’ll Do (not Limited To)

  • Drive and support the DI team to conduct timely desktop investigations and ensure efficient workflows
  • Guide and coach the Desktop Investigations (DI) team, providing direction, feedback and support
  • Manage the day-to-day functional workflow
  • Review and approve investigative reports to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance with industry standards and regulations
  • Analyse data from various sources to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies that may indicate fraudulent activity
  • Support team members to identify emerging threats and devise investigative strategies across Suncorp Insurance.
  • Utilise online databases, social media, and other digital tools to gather information and evidence relevant to investigations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven expertise in fraud intelligence
  • Experience leading and coaching a team or function
  • Experience undertaking investigations utilising public databases, social media, and open-source intelligence
  • Experience preparing detailed investigative and/or intelligence reports.
  • Experience building successful stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to review business processes and make recommendations for improvement, taking into consideration operational efficiencies, fraud risks and user requirements.
