Job location
Forensicare provides specialist forensic mental health services across 13 of Victoria’s 15 prisons. This position based at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne's west, provides 75 prison-based custodial mental health beds as well as assessments and outpatient services provided in maximum-security forensic mental health complex within the medium-security prison.
About the Role
Join Forensicare’s Outpatients Program at Ravenhall Correctional Centre as a Psychologist Grade 2, where you’ll play a vital role in delivering specialist forensic mental health care.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessment, intervention, and clinical management to men in custody, supporting their mental health recovery and reducing reoffending risk. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in a challenging yet highly rewarding forensic setting.
Duties
In this role, you will:
- Deliver comprehensive psychological assessments (including psychometric and diagnostic assessments)
- Provide individual and group therapeutic interventions to address the mental health needs of forensic clients
- Contribute to risk assessment and risk management alongside the clinical team
- Prepare clinical and court reports where required
- Support case formulation, treatment planning and program development
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure integrated care
- Maintain strong therapeutic relationships with consumers and stakeholders
About You
- Experience in mental health and/or forensic settings (highly regarded)
- Strong clinical skills in mental health assessment, intervention and treatment
- Knowledge of forensic assessment, risk assessment, and offender rehabilitation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing and court liaison
- Commitment to consumer recovery and continuous professional development
What you need
- Hold general registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA).
- Has completed a minimum of a Level 3 and 4 APAC-accredited Psychology training sequence in one or more of the following Areas of Practice Endorsement (AoPE): Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, and/or Forensic Psychology.
- Must have an Area of Practice Endorsement (AoPE) in clinical psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and/or forensic psychology
- Psychologists with Forensic AoPE alone will need to demonstrate the necessary education, training, and experience in clinical psychology needed to work in forensic mental health settings.
