Internal Auditor

Bendigo Bank

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. Come and join the better big bank where we’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

At Bendigo Bank, our vision is to be Australia’s leading customer-connected banking group. We're a proudly Australian bank that invests in our communities, and we are just as invested in our people. We are committed to providing genuine flexibility, empowering you to build a career you love while balancing your life and doing your best work.

Joining our Group Internal Audit (GIA) function means becoming part of a supportive and collaborative team that plays a critical role in the Bank's success. As our third line of defence, GIA provides independent assurance to our Board Audit Committee and senior leaders, ensuring our controls are effective and our operations are managed within the Bank's risk appetite. You'll be mentored by senior leaders and have a clear pathway for career development.

As an Internal Auditor, you will gain broad exposure across diverse banking portfolios, contributing to a variety of audit engagements. This role is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in a complex and transforming environment, learning from a team of dedicated experts and making a tangible impact on our risk and control landscape.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development and execution of audit programs for assigned areas of the Group’s operations.
  • Performing design and operating effectiveness testing of controls and completing audit workpapers.
  • Preparing high-quality reports and contributing to discussions with management on your findings.
  • Building effective relationships with stakeholders in the business and across Group Risk.
  • Contributing to a team that is uplifting its capabilities and enhancing its audit methodologies.

About you

We are looking for a curious and motivated individual with a desire to learn and grow. You are a team player who thinks "outside the box" and is keen to build a foundational career in internal audit within the financial services industry.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a risk management, internal audit, or consultancy role.
  • Experience in financial services is preferred, especially with exposure to non-financial risk areas like Technology, Cyber, Financial Crime, or Regulatory Compliance.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., Accounting, Business, Finance, or IT), and currently undertaking CA/CPA studies.
  • An ability to apply fundamental internal audit principles and learn new concepts quickly.
  • Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for using data analytic techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity that can be based in Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney or Bendigo. We offer flexible work options that put our people first, working in a hybrid model with a minimum local Head Office attendance requirement determined by your Leader, to find a rhythm that works best for you and your team. We believe that coming into the office some of the time is the best way to learn, stay connected and collaborate effectively, especially for key activities like team days, 1:1s, and town halls.

So, why work with us?

  • Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you – and that gets more and more diverse every day.

You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:

  • Hybrid work? Flexible hours? A compressed work week? Our flexible work options are designed to suit your life.
  • Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family members.

We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.

If you are ready to take on a new challenge and build something lasting, we encourage you to apply and join us on our journey. Now’s the time to set your sights higher – on the future you deserve. Apply now!
