Australia: Clothing Clerk - Brisbane Temple (Permanent Part-Time)

The Temple Department is seeking to appoint a Temple Clothing Clerk. This is a permanent part-time position working 38 hours per fortnight, located at the Brisbane Australia Temple, and the successful candidate will be required to work from this location. This position reports to the Clothing Supervisor.

This position is to provide an environment where patrons may have a positive and joyful experience each time they come to the temple. As Temple Clothing Clerk, you will ensure clean and well cared for temple clothing and other linen supplies are available for temple patrons, workers, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patrons courteously with selecting properly sized temple clothing; ensure sufficient inventory is available
  • Fold clothing and assemble packets containing robes, aprons, veils, caps, and sashes; supply clothing to the baptistry as assigned
  • Operate sewing machine to size, mend, and alter clothing; organize sewing area and manage supply inventory.
  • Operate commercial laundry equipment; sort soiled clothing; spot clean with appropriate solutions; assist with steam pressing; maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Perform daily preventative maintenance on laundry equipment, including cleaning of machinery, filters, vents, and screens.

Schedule

Working shift from Tuesday through Saturday with the ability to be flexible with morning, afternoon, and evening hours. Work schedules may be adjusted during maintenance closures, as needed.

Qualifications

  • Has at least one-year laundry experience or work-related skills
  • Has experience in operating and maintaining laundry equipment such as routine cleaning of machinery, filters, vents and screens
  • Has experience in ironing, folding and the ability to assist in sewing of items
  • Has health and safety knowledge, and handling experience, in the use of cleaning agents and chemicals
  • Ability to lift up to 14kgs
  • Has a willingness to learn, develop and undertake additional duties as assigned
