Our Branch
The Compliance and Regulatory Services (CaRS) team contributes to the health, safety and amenity of Brisbane through a range of licensing and regulatory services related to environmental health; land use and built environment; animal management; natural environment; parking regulation; asset use; and contract management. We do this by providing best practice regulatory services that contribute positively to the quality and lifestyle of the city. We are by nature, a customer facing community focussed service delivery organisation.
The Role
As Senior Environmental Health Officer, you will primarily be responsible for providing operational direction and managing the daily activities of a small, dedicated team of environmental health professionals. You will provide expert support, mentor and coach the team, provide technical advice and feedback to facilitate and ensure personal and professional development.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly experienced “hands on” environmental health professional with strong technical skills and proven leadership capabilities to inspire and motivate. This will ensure we continue to achieve environmental health’s objectives and vision to position environmental health as Council’s number one discipline. In this role you will apply a positive mindset, attitude and commitment to driving change and developing our people throughout the journey to deliver effective investigations, responsive service and environmental outcomes.
A tertiary qualification in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and an open ‘C’ class driver’s licence are mandatory requirements for this position.
To be successful you will have
- demonstrated evidence of capabilities in Council’s Leadership Blueprint to deliver performance excellence and a values-based culture
- tertiary qualification in Environmental Health (or equivalent) and an open ‘C’ class driver’s licence
- experience in leading the performance of a specialised team including coaching of staff
- strong technical skills and excellent understanding of the regulatory framework
- highly developed communication, interpersonal and customer service skills.
