About The Role

Reporting to the F&B Manager, you will take ownership of the day to day operation of Grand Bar, one of Glenelg's premier hotel bars.

This role is heavily focused on creating an energetic venue atmosphere while delivering exceptional beverage service, driving sales and maximising profitability. You will lead a passionate team of supervisors and F&B attendants, ensuring every guest receives an outstanding experience whether they're joining us for after work drinks, cocktails, live entertainment, sporting events or casual dining.

You will be responsible for leading bar operations, developing beverage initiatives, driving promotions and events, maintaining exceptional service standards and ensuring the venue consistently exceeds financial and guest satisfaction targets.

As a hands on leader, you'll spend the majority of your time on the floor supporting your team, engaging with guests and creating an exciting and welcoming venue culture.

Working closely with the Head Chef, Sales & Marketing, Front Office and wider F&B team, you will continually identify opportunities to grow revenue, increase patronage and position Grand Bar as one of Adelaide's leading hotel bars.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Leadership

  • Lead and inspire a high performing bar team through coaching, mentoring and development.
  • Create a fun, energetic and customer-focused team culture.
  • Recruit, onboard and develop future hospitality leaders.
  • Lead by example through exceptional guest engagement and service.

Bar Operations

  • Oversee the daily operation of Grand Bar.
  • Ensure premium beverage and cocktail service standards are consistently delivered.
  • Maintain exceptional venue presentation and atmosphere.
  • Manage opening, closing and cash handling procedures.
  • Oversee beverage quality, stock rotation and cellar management.
  • Drive cocktail standards and beverage innovation.

Commercial Performance

  • Maximise beverage sales and venue profitability.
  • Develop promotions, activations, themed events and entertainment offerings.
  • Analyse venue performance and identify revenue opportunities.
  • Manage labour costs through effective rostering.
  • Monitor beverage cost percentages and minimise wastage.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting.

Guest Experience

  • Create memorable guest experiences that encourage repeat visitation.
  • Build relationships with regular guests and VIP clientele.
  • Professionally resolve guest concerns.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve service standards.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with RSA legislation, liquor licensing requirements, food safety standards and Workplace Health & Safety legislation.
  • Maintain accurate venue documentation and compliance records.
  • Ensure all staff operate in accordance with Stamford policies and procedures.

About You

You are an experienced hospitality leader who genuinely enjoys running busy bars and creating vibrant guest experiences.

You have strong commercial awareness, love coaching teams and understand how to build a venue that guests want to return to.

You Will Bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience managing a premium bar, hotel bar, pub or high volume hospitality venue.
  • Strong knowledge of premium beverages, wines, spirits, cocktails and bar operations.
  • Experience managing busy beverage-focused venues.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate hospitality teams.
  • Strong financial acumen including labour management, beverage cost control and revenue generation.
  • Excellent guest engagement and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience planning promotions, entertainment or special events is highly regarded.
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA).
  • Knowledge of liquor licensing legislation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
  • Full Australian working rights.

Hotel experience will be highly regarded but is not essential.
