The Opportunity
KBR is seeking an experienced Commercial & Contract Manager to support the Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO), one of Australia’s most significant Defence capability programs.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply your commercial, procurement, and contract management expertise to support the delivery of complex Defence acquisition outcomes. Working alongside project teams, Commonwealth stakeholders, and industry partners, you will contribute to procurement strategies, tender activities, contract performance management, and commercial decision-making.
This role can be based in either Melbourne or Canberra, providing flexibility for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Support the development and delivery of complex procurement activities, including procurement strategies, tender documentation, evaluation plans, and approval submissions.
- Develop and manage procurement and tender documentation, including Request for Tender (RFT) materials, evaluation reports, and procurement schedules.
- Provide contract management support for ASDEFCON contracts, including contract changes, deliverable reviews, contractor performance monitoring, and contract reporting.
- Assist with contract negotiations, delegate approvals, contract management plans, and commercial governance activities.
- Provide accurate and timely commercial and financial advice to stakeholders and decision makers.
- Identify, assess, and manage commercial, financial, and delivery risks.
- Ensure compliance with Defence procurement policies, processes, and governance requirements.
- Prepare internal briefs, approval submissions, reports, and executive documentation.
- Coordinate project representation at key contract meetings, workshops, and commercial forums.
- Support continuous improvement of procurement and contract management practices across the GWEO Enterprise.
As the ideal candidate you will bring
- Demonstrated experience in procurement, commercial management, contract management, or Defence acquisition environments.
- Experience supporting complex government or Defence contracts, with ASDEFCON experience highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of procurement processes, commercial strategies, tender activities, and contract performance management.
- Ability to analyse commercial and financial information and provide clear advice to stakeholders.
- Strong written communication skills with experience preparing briefs, submissions, reports, and decision-support documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work collaboratively across project teams, government, and industry partners.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a complex program environment.
- A proactive approach with the ability to identify risks, solve problems, and deliver quality outcomes.
Minimum AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance and Australian citizenship required to be eligible.
