Founded in 2001, the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. We are an independent, values-driven, not-for-profit organisation whose programs support and empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well being. We champion the rights of people seeking asylum and mobilise a community of compassion to create lasting social and policy change.

About The Role (Part-Time, 0.6 FTE)

As our Community & Events Coordinator, you will take the reins on some of the ASRC’s most vital and beloved signature campaigns, including our World Refugee Day Telethon and Feast for Freedom. Reporting directly to the Fundraising Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the community fundraising income that powers our frontline services.

Whether you are collaborating with passionate school groups, empowering community fundraisers, or coordinating incredible volunteers, your work will directly fuel a movement of welcome and solidarity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Iconic Events: Project manage the execution of our major signature events (Telethon and Feast for Freedom) from concept to completion, ensuring projects are on time, on budget, and highly engaging.
  • Empower the Community: Recruit, retain, and champion schools, community groups, and individual fundraisers, providing them with the tools and inspiration they need to stage successful events.
  • Drive Growth: Meet and exceed fundraising targets (both cash and in-kind) by nurturing existing relationships and identifying new community opportunities.
  • Champion Volunteers: Supervise the recruitment, training, and rostering of dedicated volunteers who support our event execution.
  • Collaborate Internally: Work closely with the Marketing & Brand and Advocacy & Campaigns teams to create cohesive, impactful messaging across multiple channels.
  • Data & Reporting: Maintain accurate records within our CRM database to track, analyse, and report on campaign progress to senior management.

About You

We are looking for an energetic relationship-builder who brings a blend of project management discipline and genuine empathy.

  • The Experience: A proven track record in event coordination, community engagement, fundraising, or account/relationship management.
  • Exceptional Supporter Care: A natural ability to connect with people, provide outstanding customer service, and make every supporter feel valued.
  • Project Management Prowess: Stellar organization skills, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple timelines smoothly.
  • Brilliant Communication: Strong written and verbal skills, including the confidence to speak publicly and inspire an audience.
  • Tech-Savvy Mindset: Experience working with a CRM database to track engagement and pull insights.
