About the Role
As a Senior Instrument & Controls Designer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions for major mining projects, providing technical leadership, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting design excellence across project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 2D instrumentation and control layout drawings from 3D models, P&IDs, Instrument Indexes and I/O Lists.
- Read and interpret P&IDs and transfer relevant information into instrumentation and control drawings and related documentation.
- Develop 2D instrumentation and control schematic and termination diagrams for field panels, PLC, remote control panels and vendor equipment interfaces.
- Design and optimise the location of field instruments, junction boxes, local control stations and analyser facilities.
- Create, maintain and update instrumentation components within integrated 3D plant models.
- Coordinate with process, piping, mechanical, electrical, civil and structural disciplines to ensure safe, practical and constructible designs.
- Participate in 3D model reviews and resolve instrumentation-related clashes and design issues.
- Model instrumentation supports, stands, analyser houses and associated infrastructure.
- Identify and communicate design risks that could impact construction, commissioning or ongoing maintenance.
Qualifications, skills and experience:
- 10 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation & Control design
- Proficiency in Plant 3D (P3D), & AutoCad, with MicroStation highly desirable
- Proven experience in EPCM project execution (e.g. chemical, oil & gas, mining)
Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, control systems, and plant layout principles
Experience working in multidisciplinary EPCM teams
