We’re seeking a motivated
Trade Waste and Backflow Prevention Officer to help safeguard our drinking water and protect Council's sewer network and treatment processes.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact through a diverse mix of technical and field-based work. You'll assess trade waste and backflow prevention applications, conduct site inspections, investigate compliance matters, maintain accurate records, and work closely with businesses, contractors, and the community to promote best practice.
The position plays a critical role in protecting Council’s sewer operations and drinking water quality. Key activities include the assessment of applications, site inspections, investigations, record-keeping and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Criteria
- Certificate III in Water Operations or equivalent
- Statement of Attainment in Backflow Prevention Devices (or willing to obtain)
- Completion of industry Liquid Trade Waste Regulation training (or willing to obtain)
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Knowledge of water and wastewater industries, including plumbing, drainage, wastewater treatment, and drinking water standards
- Well-developed computer skills with experience in the use of a variety of computer software packages, including Microsoft Office and databases
- Proven high level written skills, including reporting writing and communications
- Proven high level verbal communication skills, including engagement with both internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to act autonomously

Salary: $1,403.60 to $1,474.68 per week + 12% superannuation
Position Status: Permanent – Full-time
Hours of work: 35 hours per week with an RDO every third week
