Stellar Recruitment is proud to be partnering exclusively with QMetco in the appointment of a Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Leadership Team.

QMetco is a well-established Queensland coal producer with a strong operational foundation and a 70% interest in the Foxleigh Joint Venture, a long-life metallurgical coal operation producing approximately 3Mtpa. Having invested significantly in strengthening its operating capability, the business is entering its next phase, with a clear focus on evolving systems, processes, and internal capability to drive greater efficiency and performance.

About the Role

This opportunity has arisen following the planned retirement of the incumbent Chief Financial Officer after a long and successful tenure with the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will be a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, partnering closely with the Board, executive leaders and site operations to shape the commercial and financial direction of the organisation.

This is a highly influential role, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on commercial support. You will drive financial performance, strengthen alignment between corporate and operations, optimise joint venture outcomes, and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, manage risk and create long-term value across the business.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Lead the organisation's financial strategy, governance and commercial performance.
• Partner with operational leaders to drive business performance, cost optimisation and disciplined capital allocation.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, treasury, financial reporting and performance management.
• Strengthen financial systems, reporting capability and decision-making across both corporate and site operations.
• Manage relationships with the Board, joint venture participants, auditors, regulators and other key external stakeholders.

About You

You are a commercially astute finance executive who enjoys operating close to the business rather than solely within the finance function. An influential and collaborative leader, you thrive on partnering with operations, driving continuous improvement and contributing at an executive level. You bring a strategic mindset, strong commercial acumen and the ability to build trusted relationships across both corporate and operational teams.

To be successful, you will ideally bring:

• CA or CPA qualification with tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline.
• Significant senior finance leadership experience within a mine owner or mining operating environment.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with Executive Leadership Teams and Boards on strategic and commercial decision-making.
• Strong capability across financial planning, capital management, governance, commercial analysis and business improvement.
• A collaborative, hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence stakeholders across both corporate and operational teams.
