Senior Legal Consultant

Beacon Legal is partnering with a leading international law firm to appoint a Senior Lawyer to support a major public inquiry on a contract basis.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced litigator to work alongside Senior Counsel and barristers on one of Australia's most significant and complex public matters. Rather than appearing as the primary advocate, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring matters are thoroughly prepared, strategically managed and hearing-ready.

The team is seeking a seasoned litigator who can step into a fast-paced environment, work autonomously, and add value from day one. Due to the nature of the matter, they're particularly interested in senior practitioners with extensive litigation experience and strong judgement.

Key responsibilities will include

• Preparing witness statements and witness evidence.
• Reviewing and managing complex documentary evidence.
• Assisting with objections to evidence and other evidentiary issues.
• Coordinating hearing preparation and briefing materials.
• Working closely with Senior Counsel and barristers across multiple workstreams.
• Providing strategic litigation support to ensure matters are hearing-ready.

What type of person will be successful?

• A senior litigation lawyer with approximately 8+ years' experience.
• Strong court and hearing experience across complex litigation.
• Excellent drafting skills, particularly in relation to witness statements and evidentiary documents.
• Experience in commercial litigation, construction litigation, regulatory investigations or other large-scale disputes.
• Experience working on a Royal Commission, Commission of Inquiry or similar investigation will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
• Someone who is comfortable working collaboratively with counsel while managing competing priorities in a high-performing team.

The role offers flexibility, with both full-time and part-time arrangements available for the right person. Remuneration is competitive and will reflect the successful candidate's experience.
