About the role

As a Quality Assurance Technologist reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for conducting quality testing on raw materials and finished goods, reviewing production records, and ensuring all products meet quality standards for timely customer release.

Key responsibilities

  • Perform routine Quality Assurance activities in accordance with company Quality Policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Conduct quality testing and evaluation of finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Carry out ATP and allergen swabbing, environmental monitoring (EMP) activities, and hygiene inspections to support food safety programs.
  • Perform Critical Control Point (CCP) verification checks and ensure accurate documentation of results.
  • Enter QA data into SAP to support the positive release process for finished products.
  • Identify, isolate, and manage non-conforming raw materials, intermediates, and finished goods as required.
  • Collaborate with Production and other site departments to drive continuous improvement initiatives and resolve quality-related issues.
  • Support shelf-life studies and monitor raw materials and intermediate products to ensure ongoing product quality.
  • Maintain and manage retention samples in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in internal quality audits, GMP inspections, and routine site quality walks under the guidance of the Quality Systems Manager.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and fit for purpose, including performing daily calibration checks prior to testing.
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory housekeeping, cleanliness, and adherence to safety requirements.
  • Raise and investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs) for out-of-specification products and support corrective action implementation.

Qualifications and skills

  • Diploma or Degree qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a food manufacturing laboratory or quality assurance environment, with a strong understanding of food safety and quality systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Windows-based computer applications; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Flexible and willing to work across a rotating shift pattern as required to support operational needs.
