Downer Rail & Transit Systems is seeking a commercially astute and inquisitively minded Finance Analyst to join our Contract & Operations team. This is a high-impact role supporting overhead budget management, forecasting, and analysis to drive growth and commercial success across our national rail portfolio.

About the Role

Reporting to the Commercial Finance Manager - Business Performance, you'll play a key role in driving financial performance across our national rail portfolio. Working closely with leaders across a range of overhead functions and strategic initiatives, you'll provide financial stewardship, challenge assumptions, and uncover opportunities that support growth and operational excellence.

This role offers broad exposure across the business, making it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to elevate their commercial finance career in a complex and impactful environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support informed decision-making.
• Build trusted relationships and provide meaningful financial insights to senior leaders.
• Support special projects and strategic initiatives with robust financial analysis.
• Develop, manage, and continuously refine detailed budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and investigate variances.
• Enhance financial models, tools, and reporting processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, visibility, and commercial outcomes.
• Champion best practice financial analysis and decision support.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related discipline
• CA / CPA or CFA similar qualification is advantageous
• 3-5 years' experience in commercial finance, business partnering, or consulting
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and work with advanced Excel financial models.
