Financial Accountant

Are you a detail-oriented Financial Accountant who enjoys owning the numbers and driving continuous improvement?

GemLife is one of Australia's fastest-growing developers, owners and operators of luxury over-50s lifestyle resorts. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated Financial Accountant to join our Head Office Finance team.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting while supporting the business with valuable financial insights and maintaining compliance with statutory obligations.

What You'll Be Doing

• Owning the month-end reporting process, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Preparing Special Purpose and General Purpose Financial Statements.
• Ensuring compliance with GST, PAYG, FBT, Payroll Tax and other statutory reporting requirements.
• Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Managing the Fixed Asset Register and depreciation.
• Assisting with tax compliance and supporting external audits.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to deliver accurate financial reporting and commercial insights.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial systems, processes and controls.

What You Bring

• CA or CPA qualification.
• Ideally trained within a Big 4 or mid-tier accounting firm.
• At least two years' post-qualification experience in a Financial Accountant role.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Technology One (highly regarded).
• Strong experience with FBT.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
• A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
