About The Role

As the Financial Capability Worker, you will work directly with people experiencing, or at risk of, energy-related financial hardship, helping them understand and manage energy costs, access available supports, and build confidence in their financial decision-making. Through practical coaching, education and advocacy, you will help clients improve their financial wellbeing while preventing energy hardship from escalating.

This role is contracted until June 2029.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to help people understand energy bills, tariffs, plans and household energy use
  • Assist clients to access rebates, concessions, grants and hardship programs and take practical steps to reduce energy costs
  • Advocate with energy providers and support clients to resolve billing issues, payment arrangements and system navigation challenges
  • Deliver education sessions and practical information that builds confidence and capability in managing money and energy expenses
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external services to connect clients with the right support and achieve positive outcomes

About You

You are passionate about supporting people experiencing financial stress and can build trusted relationships with clients from diverse backgrounds. You communicate with empathy, think critically, and can confidently navigate complex situations while maintaining clear and accurate records.

  • Hold or are working towards a Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Psychology or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience supporting individuals or groups to build financial capability and improve financial wellbeing
  • Strong communication, advocacy, negotiation and relationship-building skills
  • A trauma-informed, culturally responsive and client-centred approach to service delivery
  • The ability to assess needs, manage risk, problem-solve and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Current Driver Licence
