St John of God Bunbury Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Combined Facilities Manager to join our team at the South West Health Campus. In this key leadership role, you will support the management and maintenance of the site’s assets and infrastructure, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and fit for purpose.

Working closely with the Combined Facilities Manager, you will help ensure all facilities and essential services meet operational requirements, regulatory standards, and licensing obligations. You will drive best-practice asset management strategies, optimise performance and reliability, and support the delivery of cost-effective facilities services that contribute to exceptional patient care and hospital operations.

The role is offered on a Permanent Full-Time basis, working 76 hours per fortnight.

The Position

  • Demonstrate Lead the maintenance and reliability of critical hospital infrastructure and essential services, ensuring assets are safe, compliant, and operational through risk-based preventative maintenance and best-practice asset management.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, contractors, and compliance requirements, including job planning, resource management, permit administration, documentation control, CMMS (MEX) management, and the resolution of plant and system breakdowns.
  • Monitor and optimise critical building services and asset performance, including HVAC, water, air quality, and medical gas systems, through effective use of the BMS and CMMS, KPI reporting, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Drive maintenance planning, compliance, and operational excellence by managing asset data, service contracts, shutdowns, training, documentation, audits, and reliability improvement programs to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant hospital operations
  • Support team leadership and operational planning by facilitating regular team meetings and assisting with budget development, capital works planning, and asset replacement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance and governance standards are met through adherence to organisational policies, regulatory requirements, licensing obligations, and workplace health, safety, and fire regulations.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant trade qualification and bring proven experience in a similar facilities or engineering role. They will possess extensive knowledge of building codes, Australian Standards, and hospital engineering services, including HVAC, boilers, steam systems, sterilisation processes, and a broad understanding of mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, and building services trades. Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and preparing maintenance documentation and reports is essential.

You will be a strong communicator with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and reliable professional networks. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues, and a commitment to high-quality service delivery are essential.

The role requires participation in an after-hours on-call roster and the ability to obtain nomination on the hospital's in-house Electrical Licence if not already held.
