Community Sport Settings Lead – Prevention of Gendered Violence

An exciting opportunity exists within the Recreation Services team at the City of Ballarat to deliver an innovative and impactful project funded through Respect Victoria’s Respect Ballarat Program.

This role will drive a coordinated, system-wide approach to strengthening community sport environments by embedding respectful, inclusive and gender-equitable cultures across local clubs and associations. You will work at the intersection of sport, community wellbeing and primary prevention, helping create safer, more inclusive sporting settings.

About The Role

The Community Sport Settings Lead – Prevention of Gendered Violence will lead the planning, delivery and evaluation of a high-profile, grant-funded initiative focused on preventing gendered violence in community sport settings.

Working across Council, sporting organisations and key partners, you will:

  • Lead project delivery including planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting
  • Build strong relationships with clubs, leagues and sector partners to drive collaboration
  • Support governance and policy uplift across community sport organisations
  • Design and deliver training, leadership development and capacity-building initiatives
  • Lead culture change initiatives promoting gender equity and respectful behaviours
  • Monitor outcomes, analyse data and meet funding and reporting requirements

This role provides a unique opportunity to influence lasting cultural change across the local sport sector and contribute to broader community wellbeing outcomes.

About You

You are a strategic and values-driven professional with experience in project delivery, stakeholder engagement and community development.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Demonstrate

  • Experience in primary prevention, gender equality or family violence initiatives
  • Strong project management and program delivery skills
  • Experience working with community stakeholders, ideally within sport or volunteer-based settings
  • Knowledge of community sport systems, governance and club environments
  • Ability to develop and deliver training and capacity-building programs
  • Highly developed communication, engagement and partnership-building skills

You Will Also Bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. social work, community development, public health, sport management or similar) or equivalent experience
  • A strong commitment to gender equity, inclusion and positive cultural change
  • The ability to work collaboratively while managing complex priorities and stakeholders
