About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual for the role of Head of Media Rights & Broadcast. Working closely with the General Manager League, this full-time, permanent position is responsible for leading Netball Australia's media rights and broadcast portfolio, including the successful delivery and growth of our landmark partnership with Channel 9. With 1 direct report in your remit, this role ensures NA maximises the commercial, strategic and audience value of our broadcast partnerships and productions, driving innovative broadcast strategies and world-class media experiences that grow audiences, deepen fan engagement and position our sport for long-term success.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Netball Australia's media rights and broadcast partnerships, acting as the primary contact for domestic and international broadcasters and ensuring contractual obligations are delivered while maximising commercial and strategic value.
  • Develop and execute the organisation's broadcast and media rights strategy to grow audiences, strengthen fan engagement, enhance brand visibility and support broader commercial, marketing and participation objectives.
  • Lead the growth and commercial success of Netball Pass and identify new opportunities across media rights, digital content, subscription products, social platforms and emerging technologies to expand reach, engagement and revenue.
  • Oversee end to end delivery of broadcast productions and media operations across pathway and elite competitions, managing production partners, budgets, timelines and resources to deliver high-quality, cost-effective outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate broadcast into organisational planning and maximise the value of all competitions, events and commercial partnerships.
  • Monitor broadcast performance, audience insights and industry trends to optimise viewer experiences, inform future media and content strategies, and ensure Netball Australia remains at the forefront of broadcast innovation.
  • Develop business cases and secure strategic media, digital and content partnerships that create new commercial opportunities, enhance fan experiences and deliver measurable value for Netball Australia and its partners.

About You

We are looking for someone who possesses the following:

  • Alignment to our NA Values – Belong, Be Bold, Be Your Best
  • Relevant degree in media, communications or similar
  • At least 7-10 years in a similar media, and/or partnerships lead position
  • Demonstrated insight/market-led and client/customer-first mindset
  • Ability to drive positive change through collaboration and influence
  • Thorough understanding of the media, content and broadcast market sectors
  • Experience in adopting industry best practice or developing new best practices in seeking growth opportunities and/or efficiencies
  • Strong strategic focus and collaborative relationship experience
  • Proven experience in managing timeframes and budgets
  • Experience providing strategic advice at leadership level
  • Strong cultural environment mindset, focusing on team, respect, and agility

Desirable

  • Professional sports or media industry experience
  • Experience and understanding of the digital media market sector
  • Experience in developing and managing original / non-live programming and content projects and opportunities
  • Understanding of the federated sports model

Other Information

The role is based at Netball’s Head Office in Fitzroy/Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung country. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, and the domestic & global reach of our organisation, travelling and working outside of traditional office hours may be required. Our teams work flexibly, and we encourage the successful applicant to discuss flexible working options with their People Leader.
