About the Role

The Deputy Property Manager plays a key leadership role within the VIC Branch Property team, supporting the management of the portfolio across lower mid-market, mid-market and strata business. This position helps drive strong operational performance across pre- and post-bind activity, while contributing to portfolio growth, profitability and production outcomes.

Working closely with the Property Manager and VIC Branch leadership, this role combines technical underwriting expertise, people leadership and market engagement. You’ll provide guidance and coaching to underwriters, support reporting and business planning, and help strengthen broker relationships across the market.

Underwriting Profit

  • Support the Property unit’s rate and loss ratio targets, contribute to business planning, and analyse portfolio performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Act as an escalation point for underwriting referrals and guidance, working closely with Property Management to implement appropriate actions.

Premium Growth

  • Support delivery of growth objectives across new business, rate and retention targets. Underwrite new and renewal business in line with underwriting guidelines, manage referrals, and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to support product growth.

Sales & Marketing

  • Help develop and deliver broker engagement and business development strategies to achieve financial objectives. Build strong broker and insured relationships, support sales pipeline activity, and contribute to cross-sell, conversion and broker education initiatives.

Underwriting Quality & Integrity

  • Maintain strong underwriting standards across the unit by supporting audit performance, accurate documentation, risk reporting and timely authority requests. Ensure effective file management, administration and communication with support teams.

Staff Development

  • Support the recruitment, development and retention of quality P&C staff, while assisting with performance management and training needs. Provide leadership when required, including acting in the VIC Property Manager role, and support Chubb’s diverse workplace strategy.

Expense Control and Service Standards

  • Support adherence to travel and promotional budgets, use cost-effective resources, and help maintain expected broker service standards.
