Talent is searching for an experienced

Senior Database Administrator to join our QLD State Government client based in Brisbane CBD on a contract until 30th Nov 2026.

The Role

Specialist database administration capability is required to support the delivery of a key project and to maintain continuity of critical database services during a period of reduced internal team capacity.

The role requires experience in Azure SQL Managed Instance deployment and migration activities, implementation of database CI/CD and source control processes (including YAML-based deployment pipelines), and the provision of operational database administration services in production environments.

About The Role

• Successful migration of database workloads associated with the IOMS Evolve project to Azure SQL Managed Instance
• Stabilisation and optimisation of cloud-hosted database environments following migration
• Implementation of controlled database deployment and release processes using CI/CD and source control practices, including YAML-based deployment pipelines
• Ongoing delivery of BAU database administration services to maintain system availability, performance and reliability during the project delivery period

Required Knowledge And Capabilities

• Demonstrated experience administering Microsoft SQL Server and Azure database platforms in enterprise environments
• Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance deployments, migrations and post-migration support activities
• Strong knowledge of database backup, recovery, performance tuning, monitoring and high availability practices
• Experience implementing and supporting database CI/CD and source control processes, including YAML-based deployment pipelines
• Experience managing database schema changes and deployments across development, test and production environments
• Knowledge of database security principles and operational governance practices
• Experience supporting production systems within complex operational and project delivery environments
• Solid experience and advanced skills in supporting enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments, including strong Transactional SQL programming and script writing
• Experience in the Microsoft Business Intelligence suite, including SSRS, SSAS and SSIS
• Demonstrated skills in database analysis, design and implementation of complex information technology systems, particularly in an applications development and database environment.
