  • Brisbane CBD Location with 2 days per week WFH flexibility with regional overnight travel (25%)
  • Provide operational and specialist security advice and support to schools.

Our client, Department of Education, are currently seeking a School Security Advisor for an initial contract until 30/07/2027.

As the School Security Advisor, you will provide operational and specialist advice and support to schools.

The role of the School Security Advisor includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing specialist/technical information and advice on security to schools.
  • Promote best practice for security at schools, including department policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Monitor and investigate reported security incidents at schools to identify trends and communicate with schools to provide assistance in developing strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Assist schools in the development and implementation of security related initiatives, policies, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration (including conducting on site visits to schools);
  • Develop and implement security initiatives and strategies to assist schools with the operational management of facilities.
  • Assist schools with the management of their electronic intruder detector (alarm) systems, key systems, and closed-circuit television (CCTV).
  • Prepare and provide reports on a range of security related issues as required for reporting to the department Executive.
  • Maintain applicable records of activity and communication with schools, referencing appropriate details of discussions, advice given and outcomes.
  • Plan and prepare materials and deliver security training to schools through both school visits and workshops;
  • Participate in the development of communication, promotional and informational material relating to the Division’s responsibilities.
  • Regularly disseminate information to school principals on security initiatives.
  • Liaise with partnership agencies including the Queensland Police Service to obtain technical advice and report data.
  • Liaise with department and external stakeholders including (but not limited to) the Queensland Police Service, Local Council representatives and contractors.
  • Assist in review of design plans for new and refurbished facilities at schools and providing feedback and advice on security installations.

Experience required

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience performing a similar role.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Travel by way of Department owned vehicles and plane, including overnight absences, will be a requirement of this position.
  • Applicants should hold a current valid Queensland Driver’s Licence;
  • Successful applicant’s will be required to walk for moderate distances/time periods in external environments on uneven surfaces.
  • The successful candidate will be required to apply for a Blue Card.

Casual Loading

Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
