About the position

The purpose of the position is to manage Muswellbrook Shire Council’s economic development initiatives and contractual requirements.The position will be responsible for providing leadership to specialised teams and the effective day to day operations, budget and reporting requirements of Council grant and contractual projects to diversify the economy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the delivery of Council’s economic development initiatives including the STEM Innovation Lab program, the MELT Advanced Manufacturing Centre contracts and other contractual and grant funded programs.
  • Manage various specialised teams to deliver effective team performance to meet contractual requirements and organisational objectives.
  • Engage and partner with internal and external stakeholders, business and other government departments and agencies to deliver project outcomes.
  • Effectively plan and monitor annual budgets, including sourcing and managing sponsorship and grant funding, to deliver Operational Plan objectives.
  • Collect, monitor, analyse and report on performance measures, in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Facilitate the communication and promotion of economic programs and activities.

About you

  • Degree qualification in business, commerce or an equivalent combination of relevant contemporary experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated high level application of contract/ project management practices to deliver multidisciplinary initiatives
  • Proven experience effectively prioritising team tasks and manage conflicting demands in a high pressure, deadline driven environment
  • Proven ability to collect, analyse information and prepare reports and presentations to inform sound decision making
  • Demonstrated ability in managing relationships in in a government context
  • Proven ability to control budgets including grant funding, reporting on success measures and program outcomes

What we offer

  • Permanent full time, 35 hours per week
  • Salary from $123,603 to $129,427 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 12% superannuation
