We are seeking a motivated and reliable

Town Cleaning & Open Space Maintenance Officer to join our Open Space team. This is a hands-on role that helps keep our streets, parks, public spaces and recreational facilities clean, safe and welcoming for residents and visitors.

Working as part of a multi-skilled team, you'll undertake a variety of town cleaning, maintenance and plant operation tasks while contributing to the upkeep of Council's parks, reserves, sporting facilities, urban streetscapes, beaches, foreshores and cemeteries.

About The Role

In this role, you will:

  • Operate trucks, sweepers, cleaning machinery and other plant and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Clean streets, footpaths, parks, BBQ facilities, public furniture and other Council assets.
  • Empty litter bins and undertake litter collection across public areas.
  • Remove dumped rubbish, spills, debris and other waste from Council-controlled land.
  • Clean CBD roads and pedestrian areas, including the removal of chewing gum and spillages.
  • Remove debris, silt and other materials from pits and drains to reduce flooding risks.
  • Assist with maintaining the presentation and cleanliness of parks, reserves and open spaces.
  • Work safely and comply with all Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Support other Open Space maintenance teams as required.
  • Assist with training and supporting new and casual employees.
  • Contribute ideas for continuous improvement and more efficient work practices.

About You

You are someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining public spaces and understands the importance of delivering quality services to the community.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

  • Experience in industrial or commercial cleaning operations.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with residents, businesses and visitors.
  • A commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to assist across a variety of Open Space maintenance activities.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Queensland Class C Driver Licence.
  • Current Construction Industry White Card (or Blue Card).

Desirable Qualifications

The Following Licences And Tickets Are Highly Regarded

  • Queensland MR Driver Licence.
  • Work Safely at Heights.
  • Elevated Work Platform (High Risk Work Licence).
  • Chainsaw competency.
  • Implement Traffic Management Plans.
  • Skid Steer or Front-End Loader ticket.
  • Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) Licence.
