Alvarez and Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a global consulting firm with entrepreneurial, action and results-oriented professionals. We take a hands-on approach to solving our clients' problems and assisting them in reaching their potential. Our culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers who positively impact our clients and shape our industry. The Team

We are continuing to grow our Valuations team and are looking for someone to join our Capital Asset Advisory Services (CAAS) arm as an Associate Director or Director in either Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, or Sydney. The level offered will depend upon your level of experience.

Our CAAS team advises leading Australian and international clients on the valuation, strategy, and management of capital fixed assets including infrastructure, plant and machinery, and equipment.

You’ll have the opportunity to take a leadership position within our growing business, reporting directly to the leader of our Asia Pacific CAAS team, combining this with your technical valuation expertise and client relationship management.

A&M’s freedom from audit conflicts and restrictions is a key differentiator, giving our people greater independence, flexibility and opportunity to work on a broad range of complex client matters.

How You Will Contribute

As a valued member of the team, you’ll lead large and complex capital asset valuation engagements across Australia and internationally, while working closely with A&M leadership to support the continued growth of the practice. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing valuations of capital equipment for tax, financial reporting, insurance, transaction, and stamp duty purposes.

  • Conducting and managing site inspections and asset verification activities.

  • Reviewing valuation models, analysis, and reports to ensure high-quality client outcomes.

  • Acting as a trusted advisor and key point of contact for clients and stakeholders.

  • Supporting business development initiatives through client relationship management, proposals, and market-facing activities.

  • Mentoring and developing junior team members while helping to build a collaborative and high-performing team culture.

  • Assisting in the development and implementation of our AI strategy.

  • Collaborating with other Business Units across A&M while helping to enhance our reputation in the market.

Qualifications

We're looking for an entrepreneurial and commercially minded valuation professional who is excited by the opportunity to help grow a market-leading capital asset valuations practice. You’ll also ideally bring:

  • Significant experience delivering plant and equipment asset valuations within a similar environment for financial reporting, tax, and insurance.

  • API CPV (P&M), MRICS, or ASA accreditation.

  • Strong technical knowledge of capital asset valuation methodologies and reporting requirements.

  • A genuine interest in developing AI solutions to drive improvements in quality and strategic insights.

  • Demonstrated experience managing client relationships and leading complex engagements.

  • A track record of mentoring and upskilling junior valuers within a professional services environment.

  • The willingness to travel throughout Australia and internationally as reasonably needed for client engagements and site inspections.

  • A collaborative, results-oriented approach that aligns with A&M’s entrepreneurial culture.

Your Journey at A&M

  • Culture: Enjoy a supportive and empathetic workplace with no unnecessary bureaucracy, “red tape”, or micro-management.

  • Rewards: Competitive pay packages above market rates, with performance bonuses tied to your own personal achievements and contributions.

  • Top-Tier Clients: Gain exposure to a broad range of industries and enjoy impactful work.

  • Leadership: Approachable and open leadership styles that foster autonomy, professional growth, and trust in your ability to deliver.

  • Flexibility: A flexible work environment where you’re treated like an adult, with no rigid mandates and a respect for work-life balance.
