The Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University is seeking an outstanding academic leader to drive innovation, excellence, and impact in interprofessional education and interprofessional practice (IPE/IPP).

About the Role

The Director, Interprofessional Education and Interprofessional Practice provides strategic leadership and expert advice to advance IPE and IPP across the Faculty of Health Sciences. Working closely with Schools, the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, industry partners, placement providers, and colleagues across the University, you will champion innovative, evidence-based approaches that enhance student learning, graduate outcomes, and workforce readiness.

You will lead initiatives that embed high-quality, scaffolded interprofessional learning experiences throughout curricula, fieldwork, placements, and co-curricular activities. You will also drive scholarship and research in IPE/IPP, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to academic staff in the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative interprofessional education and practice initiatives across coursework, fieldwork, and placements.
  • Collaborate with course teams to identify and address IPE and IPP requirements aligned with accreditation standards and workforce expectations.
  • Develop and support engaging extra-curricular opportunities that enhance students' interprofessional capabilities.
  • Create and deliver professional development programs and mentorship opportunities for academic and professional staff in contemporary, evidence-based IPE and IPP practice.
  • Lead innovation in emerging areas such as technology-enabled healthcare, telehealth, and the application of AI in healthcare education.
  • Build and lead high-quality programs of innovation and scholarship of learning and teaching (ISOLT) and/or research in IPE and IPP, including competitive grant development and research student supervision.
  • Foster strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including Curtin Clinics and industry partners, to strengthen interprofessional learning opportunities and outcomes.

Selection Criteria

We are seeking an academic leader who is passionate about shaping interprofessional healthcare education. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Evidence of an established national reputation and growing international profile in interprofessional education ( ALE applicants will provide evidence of an established international profile in interprofessional education and/or interprofessional practice).
  • Extensive experience in leading successful interprofessional education and/or interprofessional practice initiatives, including major curriculum and/or research initiatives.
  • Significant contribution to scholarship in teaching and considerable experience and knowledge of the higher education sector.
  • An established record of obtaining ISOLT/research income through competitive grants and/or fellowships, and outputs in high quality peer-reviewed publications.
  • Proven project management, planning, and analytical skills and a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of collegial and supportive working environments and the ability interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and the ability to resolve stakeholder concerns, balance contractual obligations, and meet operational needs.
