About the Role

Curtin Medical School (CMS) is an integral part of our Faculty of Health Science, dedicated to excellence in educating the next wave of medical professionals, leading the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia.
We are seeking an experienced and collaborative academic leader to join the Medical Education Group, Curtin Medical School as the Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor (Scientist and Scholar [SaS] Domain Lead).
The Domain underpins the scientific knowledge and application of evidence to clinical practice. The SaS Domain Lead will oversee the development of the curriculum that recognises research, along with quality improvement and assurances that underpins continuous improvement of clinical practice and the broader healthcare system.
The SaS Lead provides academic leadership in collaboration with teams, coordination, and scholarly oversight of the domain across the Curtin Medical School (CMS) MBBS curriculum, ensuring alignment with the Australian Medical Council (AMC) Graduate Outcome Statements and the educational philosophy of the program.
This is a full-time, ongoing (permanent) position - part-time working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate.
Your responsibilities will include
- Leading, designing, integrating and sequencing of biological, clinical, social, behavioural and planetary health sciences and informatics in health care ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment within the MBBS course.
- Leading the design, integration, and sequencing of scholarly inquiry skills, and research literacy ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment within the MBBS course.
- Contributing and maintaining an evidence‑based approach, and alignment with the AMC Graduate Outcome Statements, Curtin University Graduate Attributes and MBBS outcomes.
- Working within the governance structures and processes
- Collaborating with multiple teams to ensure the curriculum (teaching, learning and assessment) supports the development of knowledge and skills required for specialty disciplines.
- Developing learning outcomes across the five levels ensuring disciplines are accurately represented and coherently integrated across the MBBS program (i.e. Problem Based Learning/laboratory teaching/clinical skills/seminars and other teaching).
- Delivering teaching, assessment and standard setting as required and engagement with scholarship of teaching and learning and university engagement roles.
- Engaging and reviewing evaluation data from multiple sources and responding with applicable recommendations.
Who we are looking for (selection criteria)
- A qualification in a relevant *discipline. (*medicine/biomedical/health science degree); PhD & APHRA registration (Highly Desirable).
- Demonstrated high level teaching skills with a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching. ALD applicants will demonstrate a sustained record of achievement in and commitment to excellence in teaching.
- A significant contribution to scholarship in teaching, with experience in curriculum development and unit/course coordination. ALD applicants will also demonstrate achievement in the discipline through the scholarly development and delivery of high-quality educational courses.
- An established record of research outputs and publications in high quality refereed academic journals and/or other recognised creative outlets. ALD applicants will demonstrate a highly productive research profile consistent with an international reputation in the field.
- Evidence of success in obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships. ALD applicants will demonstrate a significant record of obtaining research income.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead major curriculum and/or research initiatives, provide mentoring to less experienced staff and supervise Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students. ALD applicants will also demonstrate academic leadership in the discipline/profession and community engagement.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross-cultural sensitivity.
- Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

This full time, ongoing position attracts a remuneration package of $ 144,512 - $166,354 (ALC) - $191,099 (ALD) + 17% superannuation.
