What you’ll be doing

As our Assistant Accountant, you will work closely with the Finance Manager to support the financial operations of the business. Your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes
• Preparing journals, accruals, prepayments, and general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data across all reporting activities
• Preparing and lodging BAS, payroll tax, and other statutory compliance requirements
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
• Assisting with audit preparation and year-end financial reporting
• Providing financial analysis to support business decision-making
• Supporting Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions to ensure timely processing and collections/payments
• Assisting with payroll reconciliations, superannuation, and employee-related reporting
• Identifying and contributing to improvements in financial processes, systems, and controls
• Supporting the wider finance team during peak periods and collaborating with project managers and business leaders to provide financial insight and guidance

About You

• To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
• A degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance 3+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Australian taxation requirements.
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and confidence using financial systems (Xero and Employment Hero Preferable).
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
