TasNetworks is seeking an experienced and highly capable
Facilities Specialist to support the safe, compliant and reliable operation of our statewide facilities and critical infrastructure. In this role, you will lead operational facilities management activities, oversee physical security systems, coordinate contractors, and ensure our facilities meet regulatory, safety and organisational requirements.
Working closely with the Facilities Team Leader, you will play a key role in maintaining secure, resilient and well‑managed sites across Tasmania. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced role suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership, and brings strong technical, security and coordination capability to a diverse stakeholder environment. The role will also need to be able to write business cases and Regulatory proposals which enable the business to delivering the outcomes required.
You will need to undertake Statewide travel and participate in a 1:4 oncall roster.
What You’ll Do
- Manage facilities operations — Oversee day‑to‑day facilities tasks, planned and reactive maintenance, and operational support across multiple statewide sites. Manage HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire and security systems to ensure statutory compliance and timely work order completion.
- Lead physical security management — Maintain and audit physical security systems, conduct risk assessments, and ensure 24/7 security coverage through effective contractor coordination.
- Ensure SOCI compliance — Support compliance with the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018 , contribute to the CIRMP, and maintain all required registers, records and documentation.
- Coordinate contractors and delivery partners — Source, engage and manage contractors across civil, electrical, mechanical and specialist trades, ensuring WHS compliance and performance against KPIs and SLAs.
- Prepare business documentation — Produce business cases, reports, insights and supporting materials for business requirements and regulatory proposals.
- Support capital works and site improvements — Coordinate capital works, office relocations and site upgrades from planning through to delivery.
- Contribute to budgeting and planning — Assist with OpEx budget management, support CapEx planning and identify cost‑saving initiatives.
- Maintain emergency and security procedures — Develop, implement and maintain site security procedures, emergency response plans and incident reporting protocols.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships — Engage confidently with regulators, contractors, internal teams and the Responsible Entity on facilities and SOCI matters.
About You
You are a proactive, organised and technically capable facilities professional with strong experience across multi‑site operations, contractor management and physical security systems. You thrive in a dynamic environment, balance operational demands with strategic priorities, and bring a solutions‑focused mindset to every challenge.
You Will Bring
- Facilities and property experience — Minimum 5 years’ experience managing facilities, property or building services across multiple sites.
- Security capability — Hands‑on experience with physical security systems, audits and risk assessments.
- Regulatory knowledge — Working understanding of the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act and related compliance requirements.
- Strong documentation skills — Ability to produce high‑quality business documentation, reports and procedures.
- Stakeholder engagement — Proven ability to build strong relationships across internal and external audiences.
- WHS and compliance experience — Demonstrated capability in safety management and compliance oversight.
- Operational and strategic balance — Ability to manage day‑to‑day workload while contributing to broader planning and improvement initiatives.
- Communication strength — Clear written and verbal communication skills across all organisational levels.
