Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced advanced trainee (Geriatric Medicine) to join the Palliative Care and Psychiatry of Old Age teams.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
The Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic advanced trainee (Geriatric Medicine) to join the team at Northern Health in Palliative Care and Psychiatry of Old Age.
This role is suited to an Advanced Trainee in Geriatric Medicine who wishes to expand their experience in Palliative care and Psychiatry of Old Age and involves managing psychiatric inpatients at Broadmeadows Hospital and the Palliative Consultancy and Inpatient services at Northern Hospital.
This position involves a 6-month rotation in each of Palliative care and Psychiatry of Old Age.
The two combined Aged Psych/Pall Care positions will be appointed through the VGMTP Central match.

To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience and good working knowledge of assessment and management of health issues affecting older people and will have completed at least one core year of training in Geriatric Medicine.
- Proven ability to provide excellent, person-centred care, work in multidisciplinary teams and have a commitment to training.
- Past rotations in psychiatry are desirable, but not essential.
