Cyber Security Architect

As the Cyber Security Architect, you will provide technical leadership and architectural expertise across multiple projects and business initiatives. You'll be responsible for developing security architectures, assessing cyber risks, defining security requirements, and ensuring solutions align with enterprise security standards, governance frameworks, and business objectives.
Working closely with architecture, engineering, project, and delivery teams, you'll help shape secure technology outcomes across both Agile (SAFe) and Waterfall delivery environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of enterprise Cyber Security architectures and solution designs.
- Develop high-level and detailed security architecture artefacts, roadmaps, patterns, and technical documentation.
- Define functional and non-functional security requirements for new and existing solutions.
- Conduct cyber security risk assessments, identify threats, vulnerabilities, control gaps, and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Review solution designs and provide security architecture guidance across projects and BAU initiatives.
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture principles, governance processes, security standards, and technology strategies.
- Participate in RFP and RFI activities by defining security requirements, reviewing vendor responses, and assessing cyber risks.
- Present architectural solutions, risks, and recommendations to governance forums and senior technology stakeholders.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, cloud, and operational technology teams to deliver secure end-to-end solutions.
- Mentor and coach project teams, security designers, business analysts, and technical stakeholders while promoting security best practices across the organisation.
What You'll Bring
Essential Experience
- 6+ years' experience within enterprise IT environments.
- 2+ years' experience in Cyber Security roles.
- Experience working on large technology transformation programs or enterprise projects.
- Strong understanding of cyber security architecture, solution design, threat modelling, and risk assessment.
- Experience translating business, functional, and non-functional requirements into secure technical solutions.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and governance processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and design thinking capabilities.
- Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior leaders, including Heads of Technology, General Managers, and executive stakeholders.
- Experience producing high-quality architecture documentation and presenting complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Teams, Confluence, and related collaboration tools.
Highly Regarded
- Previous experience as a Cyber Security Architect or Security Consultant.
- Extensive experience designing secure enterprise solutions across cloud and hybrid environments, including:
- SaaS
- PaaS
- IaaS
- On-premises infrastructure
- Operational Technology (OT)
- Experience working within both Agile (SAFe) and Waterfall delivery frameworks.
- Experience delivering complex enterprise transformation programs.
- Experience working with external vendors and technology partners.
- Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Certifications (Highly Desirable)
- CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)
- SABSA (Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture)
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- CompTIA CASP+
- Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect (SC-100)
