Alignerr
Environmental Science Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your expertise in climate modeling, ecology, or sustainability could directly shape how AI understands and reasons about the most pressing environmental challenges facing our planet? We're looking for Environmental Science experts to develop and review advanced, real-world problems that teach AI systems to think with genuine scientific rigor.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and advanced degree holders who want to put their domain expertise to meaningful use — on their own schedule.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design, solve, and review complex environmental science problems with real-world relevance — spanning climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, and related disciplines
- Apply your advanced domain knowledge to craft challenging, nuanced problem statements that push AI reasoning to its limits
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and rigor
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to refine and improve model performance
- Ensure clarity, precision, and intellectual integrity across all deliverables
- Work independently on task-based assignments fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Hold a Master's or PhD in Environmental Science or a closely related field
- Deep expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, environmental sustainability, or adjacent areas
- Proficient in Python or R for research, data analysis, or scientific computing
- Exceptional written communicator — you can translate complex science into clear, well-structured problem statements
- Detail-oriented, rigorous, and comfortable working independently
- Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand
Nice to Have
- Prior experience with data annotation, data labeling, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in interdisciplinary research spanning environmental science and quantitative modeling
