About The Role

We're looking for Environmental Science experts to develop and review advanced, real-world problems that teach AI systems to think with genuine scientific rigor.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and advanced degree holders who want to put their domain expertise to meaningful use — on their own schedule.

What You'll Do

• Design, solve, and review complex environmental science problems with real-world relevance — spanning climate modeling, ecology, sustainability, and related disciplines
• Apply your advanced domain knowledge to craft challenging, nuanced problem statements that push AI reasoning to its limits
• Evaluate AI-generated outputs for scientific accuracy, depth, and rigor
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to refine and improve model performance
• Ensure clarity, precision, and intellectual integrity across all deliverables
• Work independently on task-based assignments fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

• Hold a Master's or PhD in Environmental Science or a closely related field
• Deep expertise in at least one of: climate modeling, ecology, environmental sustainability, or adjacent areas
• Proficient in Python or R for research, data analysis, or scientific computing
• Exceptional written communicator — you can translate complex science into clear, well-structured problem statements
• Detail-oriented, rigorous, and comfortable working independently
• Fluent in English and based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with data annotation, data labeling, or AI evaluation workflows
• Background in interdisciplinary research spanning environmental science and quantitative modeling
• Experience designing curriculum, assessments, or research problems in an academic or professional setting
• Familiarity with AI tools or large language model capabilities
