We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Library Customer Service Officer to join our team and play a key role in delivering outstanding library services to our community.

About the Role

This is a varied and rewarding position where you'll provide excellent customer service, support library programs and events, and contribute to the day-to-day operation of our library services.

On any given day, you may assist customers to find resources, support the use of technology and digital services, deliver books through our Home Library Service, help facilitate a book club, or assist with community events and activities.

What you will be doing

Deliver Outstanding Customer Service

  • Create welcoming and positive experiences for library visitors.
  • Assist customers with borrowing, returning and locating resources.
  • Respond to enquiries and support customers with technology use and online services.
  • Promote library collections, programs and services.

Support Community Programs and Services

  • Support library programs, events and outreach activities.
  • Assist with services including Home Library Service, Memorial Box lending and book clubs.
  • Encourage community participation, learning and connection.

Contribute to Library Operations

  • Maintain organised, inviting library spaces and collections.
  • Assist with shelving, administration and daily operational tasks.
  • Contribute to a safe, welcoming and customer-focused environment.

About you

You are friendly, organised and adaptable, with a passion for customer service and community engagement.

You will bring

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
  • Experience supporting programs, activities or services.
  • Confidence using technology and a range of software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach.
  • A passion for libraries, learning and community connection.

Essential Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check (Employee)
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence
  • A Police Check will be conducted on the preferred applicant prior to employment.

What we offer

  • Permanent Part-Time position.
  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and rostered Saturdays. Start and finish times may vary slightly to meet library operational needs.
  • Hourly rate of $35.96 plus 15% superannuation.
  • Four weeks annual leave plus 17.5% leave loading.
  • Personal, parental, adoption and long service leave entitlements.
