Role Title: Defence Projects Engineer
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Defence Projects Engineer to support the delivery, enhancement and sustainment of Defence capability across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a highly collaborative environment, supporting the development, implementation, testing, certification and ongoing sustainment of complex Defence systems and equipment. Working alongside Defence stakeholders, military units and industry partners; you will play a critical role in ensuring engineering solutions are safe, effective, and aligned with operational requirements.
About the Role
Working within a collaborative project environment, you will provide the technical direction and engineering assurance required to support equipment modifications, system improvements and configuration changes. Your work will directly contribute to maintaining capability readiness, supporting operational users and ensuring engineering outcomes align with Defence safety and governance requirements.
Key Requirements
- Provide engineering and technical advice in support of Defence capability.
- Manage and coordinate configuration changes in accordance with approved Configuration Management policies and procedures.
- Support engineering design management activities across project and capability enhancement initiatives.
- Process and manage Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), configuration management activities and technical investigations.
- Manage Reports on Defective and Unsatisfactory Materiel (RODUM) and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Plan and conduct technical investigations, trials, inspections, testing and evaluation activities.
- Prepare, review, and amend technical documentation, including:
- Safety Case Reports
- Trial and Investigation Reports
- Test and Evaluation Reports
- Engineering Drawings and Illustrations
- Specifications
- Technical Manuals and Instructions
- Calculations and Supporting Engineering Artefacts
- Support installation, modification, maintenance and integration activities for Defence equipment and systems.
- Exercise engineering delegations and technical responsibilities in accordance with applicable Defence engineering and safety frameworks.
Skills and Experience
- A degree qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting Defence engineering, acquisition, sustainment or capability projects.
- Knowledge of engineering design management, systems engineering, and configuration management principles.
- Experience managing or supporting ECPs, technical investigations and configuration control activities.
- Experience developing technical documentation, engineering reports and assurance artefacts.
- Experience conducting testing, trials, inspections, acceptance activities or technical evaluations.
- Experience supporting the introduction into service and sustainment of Defence capability will be highly regarded.
