Senior Occupational Therapist

Allied Therapeutic Services

Room Rental Partnership -$80 - $100/hour

Your services, your way - the autonomy of private practice, without the administrative load.

You can shape your caseload - paediatric-focused, adult-focused, or a blend - around your interests and experience.

Allied Therapeutic Services (ATS) is offering a supported room rental model for experienced Occupational Therapists in Cairns who are ready to move from an employee-based role into a more autonomous clinical practice - while remaining part of a multidisciplinary team.

If you've built your clinical expertise and you're ready to run your own practice, but you'd rather focus on clients than on billing, systems and back-office administration, this is a genuine opportunity to do exactly that.

The opportunity at a glance

  • You retain full control of your clinical decisions, your business and your caseload.
  • ATS provides the clinic space, technology, systems, assessment tools, resources, templates, funding body registrations, established client base and day-to-day administrative support and calendar management.
  • You're paid an attractive percentage of your collected billings - for a typical caseload, an indicative $80–$100 per client-servicing hour.
  • Delivery is hybrid - in-clinic, in the community (homes, schools, early childhood centres) and work-from-home for your administrative time.

This model is well established in the organisation and ATS is pleased to extend it to senior allied health practitioners in Cairns.

What ATS provides

  • Well-resourced clinic space in our established Cairns clinic, plus the technology, policies, templates and resources to run your practice.
  • An experienced admin team and CRM (Splose) supporting calendar management, service agreements, billing and collections - so you can focus on clinical work.
  • Billing handled for you. ATS processes billing under its provider registrations, manages collections, and reports your net billings with full transparency, then pays you your agreed percentage.
  • A broad, diverse client base. As a registered NDIS provider with established relationships across WorkCover QLD, Comcare, NIISQ, private health and aged care, ATS offers access to steady, varied referrals.
  • A genuine multidisciplinary community. Collaborate daily with Speech Pathologists, Psychologists, PBS Practitioners and other OTs across a team of 45+ professionals in North Queensland. Be part of and gain access to all our team development activities.
  • Clinical support when you want it. Access to structured clinical supervision, group training (lunch & learns and discipline-specific meetings) and our Quality of Care Board for clinical guidance and frameworks.
  • Cairns lifestyle. Reef, rainforest and a relaxed pace of life right on your doorstep.

The commercial arrangement

  • Paid as a percentage of collected billings - indicatively $80–$100 per client-servicing hour for a typical caseload (actual earnings depend on billings generated and collected).
  • RCTI issued fortnightly, with full transparency over billing and collection activity.
  • Indicative engagement guide: approximately 30 client-servicing hours per week across ~48 weeks per year. Hours are worked flexibly - this is a guide to the level of activity, not a fixed roster.

What you'll be doing

Delivering high-quality therapy to clients and their families, carers and support networks - across clinic, home, school and community settings. Your work may include the following dependent upon your preferred caseload:

  • Comprehensive assessments (e.g. sensory processing, fine/gross motor, self-care, functional capacity, home modifications, assistive technology)
  • Individualised therapy plans, goals and intervention strategies, developed with each person's support network
  • Clear, timely reports and accurate records in line with NDIS Practice Standards
  • Evidence-based intervention across clinic, home, school and community
  • Collaboration with carers, families, support workers, educators and other health professionals
  • Supervising Allied Health Assistants where relevant

What this model is - and isn't

We want the right fit, so we're upfront about how this works.

This model is

  • A business-to-business contract arrangement, governed by a room rental agreement.
  • Yours to lead - you control your clinical and business decisions and are responsible for your outcomes.
  • Supported - ATS carries the infrastructure, systems, admin and billing so you don't have to.

Who this suits - what you'll bring

This model is designed for Senior and Expert clinicians. You'll bring:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy from a recognised university
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • A minimum of 5+ years' post-qualification experience (this is a senior, autonomous role)
  • Your own ABN and business registration (or readiness to establish these), plus Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Personal Accident insurance
  • Current Yellow Card (Disability Worker Screening) or willingness to obtain
  • Current, unrestricted driver's licence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A commercially aware approach and the confidence to run your own caseload
  • A genuine passion for working with children, adults, seniors and/or families

Desirable

  • Experience working within the NDIS
  • Familiarity with common assessment tools
  • Experience delivering services in regional or remote communities
